  • Considered to have been trained at the Asklepieion of Kos [Cos], dates unknown
  • Born in Kos [Cos], Greece between 450 and 460 BCE
  • Died in Larissa, Greece between 370 and 380 BCE
  • Hippocrates is credited with writing “The Hippocratic Oath” but many scholars are unsure of the exact authorship. The oath is part of the Hippocratic Corpus, a collection of about 70 texts that are considered the oldest surviving complete medical books, but may have had had multiple authors including Hippocrates’ sons, students, and followers.
